BLOOD OF THE COVENANT / MARK 14:24

START YOUR DAY RIGHT DAILY DEVOTION

(KJV) Mark 14:24

And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many.

Unpacking the Blood of the Covenant: What Mark 14:24 Means for You

In Mark 14:24, during the intimate moments of the Last Supper, Jesus lifts a cup and shares a truth that would change human history forever: “This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many.”

These few words carry an incredible weight. They bridge ancient promises with a beautiful, living reality available to us today. Let’s break down exactly what the Blood of the Covenant means for your life, your faith, and your relationship with God.

A New Agreement, A New Life

To understand the “new covenant,” we have to look back. In the ancient world, covenants were solemn, life-binding agreements. Jesus’ death on the cross established a brand-new “life agreement” between God and humanity, fulfilling the ancient promise found in Jeremiah 31:31-34.

Christ’s blood was shed—meaning He willingly gave His life through death on the cross—to pay the ultimate penalty for our sins. Because that price was paid in full, the door is flung wide open for complete forgiveness and true spiritual salvation. This isn’t just about a ticket to heaven; it is about a restored, renewed, and eternal relationship with God right now.

From Freedom to Adoption

When we choose to repent—to honestly admit and turn away from our own sinful ways—and turn toward God through faith in Jesus, everything changes. We aren’t just forgiven; we are completely re-made.

Through the blood of the covenant, believers receive incredible spiritual gifts:

  • True Liberation: We are freed from the gripping power of sin and the influence of Satan.
  • A New Identity: We are officially adopted as beloved children of God.
  • The Holy Spirit: We receive the indwelling gift of the Holy Spirit to guide, comfort, and convict us.
  • Unprecedented Access: We can approach God’s throne at any time to receive mercy, strength, and help in our moments of need (Hebrews 4:16).

Jesus traded His life so that you could trade your past for a vibrant, spirit-led future. If you have received Him as your Savior (the Forgiver of your sins) and your Lord (the Leader of your life), you are a secure participant in this everlasting covenant.

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the profound depth of Your love. Thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus Christ, to pour out His blood on the cross to pay the penalty for my sins. I am humbled by the reality of the New Covenant—that through His sacrifice, my past is forgiven, my chains are broken, and my relationship with You is completely restored.

Lord, I look to Jesus as the Forgiver of my sins and the Leader of my life. Wash me clean, fill me afresh with Your Holy Spirit, and teach me to live fully as Your child. Thank You that I can come to Your throne at any hour of the day or night to find the mercy, strength, and help I desperately need.

In Jesus’ powerful name, Amen.

BREAD MY BODY / MARK 14:22

START YOUR DAY RIGHT DAILY DEVOTION

(KJV) Mark 14:22

And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body

Bread and Brokenness: Finding Grace in Mark 14:22

We live in a world that worships formatting, perfection, and curated lives. We hide our cracks, polish our public images, and do everything we can to avoid looking fragile. But when we look at the life of Jesus—especially on the night before His crucifixion—we see a completely different rhythm. We see a Savior who didn’t hide brokenness. He chose it.

In Mark 14:22, gathered with His closest friends in the Upper Room, Jesus did something that would echo through eternity: “And as they were eating, he took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to them, and said, ‘Take; this is my body.’”

This simple act of Communion reveals three profound truths about how God meets us in our own lives.

1. Taken and Blessed

Before the bread was broken, it was taken and blessed. Jesus looked at the element that would represent His looming suffering and He gave thanks. This reminds us that our lives are firmly in the hands of the Creator. Even when difficult seasons approach, you are chosen, valued, and sustained by a God who holds you close.

2. Broken to be Given

Bread cannot feed anyone while it remains a whole loaf; it must be broken to be shared. Jesus willingly allowed His body to be broken on the cross so that we could be healed, forgiven, and made whole. His brokenness became our ultimate provision.

This also changes how we view our own pain. In the hands of Jesus, our seasons of brokenness are not the end of the story. God often takes our deepest hurts, heals them, and uses our stories to bring hope, comfort, and nourishment to a hurting world around us.

3. “Take; This is My Body”

Jesus doesn’t force Himself upon us. He offers an invitation: “Take.” He invites us to receive His sacrifice, to find our strength in Him, and to depend on Him as our daily bread. When you feel empty, overwhelmed, or spiritually exhausted, His grace is readily available to sustain you.

The next time you face a season that feels fractured, remember the Upper Room. Remember that the Savior who was broken for you is the very same One who holds you together.

A Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the profound gift of Your Son, Jesus Christ, who willingly allowed His body to be broken so that we could be made whole. We praise You for a love so deep that it holds nothing back.

Lord, when we feel broken by the circumstances of life, remind us that we are still held firmly in Your hands. Heal our wounds and use our stories to share Your comfort with others. Teach us to rely on You every single day as our true source of life and sustenance.

We receive Your grace, Your peace, and Your love today. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

HAD NOT BEEN BORN / MARK 14:21

START YOUR DAY RIGHT DAILY DEVOTION

(KJV) Mark 14:21

The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had never been born.

The weight of an eternal perspective changes how we view success, failure, and the very value of a human life. In Mark 14:21, Jesus utters some of the most sobering words in all of Scripture regarding His betrayer, Judas Iscariot: “The Son of Man indeed goes just as it is written of Him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had never been born.”

To our modern ears, this sounds incredibly harsh. We live in a culture that measures a “good life” by happiness, wealth, and personal achievement. But Jesus always evaluates and judges people’s lives from a spiritual and eternal viewpoint. He looks past the temporary comforts of this world and focuses entirely on the destination of the soul.

The Tragedy of Refusing Grace

When Jesus says it would be better for a person to have never been born, He is affirming a devastating reality: coming into this world, enjoying its blessings, and then ultimately rejecting or failing to accept Jesus’ forgiveness and leadership is the ultimate tragedy.

Judas walked with Christ. He witnessed miracles, heard the greatest teachings in human history, and experienced the kindness of the Savior firsthand. Yet, his heart remained closed.

The end result of a life lived in rebellion or indifference to Christ is an eternity separated from Him in hell. When balanced against the weight of eternal suffering, a few decades of earthly existence—no matter how successful or filled with pleasure—amount to a net loss.

A Choice Before Us

This passage isn’t just a historical footnote about Judas; it is an urgent wake-up call for us today. Jesus knows our hearts completely (John 6:64). He knows whether we are simply going through the motions of faith or if we have truly surrendered to His leadership.

To accept His forgiveness is to receive life itself. To reject it, or to simply ignore it, is to choose a path of eternal regret. Let us choose today to align our perspective with His, valuing our eternal destiny above all else.

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father,

We come before You with sober and humbled hearts, recognizing the weight of Your eternal truth. Lord, it is easy for us to get caught up in the temporary pursuits of this world, forgetting that our lives are but a vapor. Cleanse our hearts today. We pray that none of us would walk in the tragedy of a hardened heart, rejecting Your grace or ignoring Your leadership.

Jesus, we actively choose to accept Your complete forgiveness today. We surrender our wills, our plans, and our futures to Your lordship. Give us an eternal perspective so that we may live lives that honor You and bear fruit for Your kingdom. Thank You for the gift of salvation and the promise of eternity in Your presence.

In Jesus’ holy name we pray, Amen.

PASSOVER / MARK 14:14

START YOUR DAY RIGHT DAILY DEVOTION

(KJV) Mark 14:14

And wheresoever he shall go in, say ye to the goodman of the house, The Master saith, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?

The ultimate Passover sacrifice was prepared in an ordinary, borrowed room. In Mark 14:14, Jesus instructs His disciples to find the master of a specific house and ask, “The Teacher says, ‘Where is My guest room in which I may eat the Passover with My disciples?'” This verse anchors a pivotal moment in history—the transition from the old covenant of the Passover lamb to the new covenant established by Christ himself.

Choosing the Humble Guest Room

When we look at the context of the Passover, it was a massive, bustling festival in Jerusalem. Finding a place to stay or celebrate was incredibly difficult. Yet, Jesus already had a room chosen. He didn’t demand a palace or a grand public stage. He requested a simple guest room.

This tells us so much about how God operates:

  • He uses the ordinary: God doesn’t wait for us to have perfect, grand lives to work through us. He looks for a willing “guest room” in our hearts.
  • He is fully in control: Jesus knew exactly who would provide the room and how the disciples would find it, proving that even as He approached the cross, He was sovereign.
  • He desires intimacy: The Passover was a family meal. Jesus wanted a quiet, private space to share His final instructions and His deep love with His closest followers.

The True Passover Lamb

During this specific Passover meal in the upper room, Jesus changed the meaning of the bread and the wine forever. He revealed that the centuries of sacrificing lambs to remember freedom from Egypt were pointing to Him. He was about to shed His own blood to give us permanent freedom from sin and death.

Just as the master of the house in Mark 14:14 opened his doors to Jesus, we are invited to open our hearts. Christ is still asking, “Where is My guest room?” He wants to enter our everyday lives, sit down with us, and bring His redeeming power into our circumstances.

Closing Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the beautiful reminder of Your sovereignty and grace in Mark 14:14. Just as You prepared a place for the Passover, we thank You for preparing a way for our salvation through Jesus Christ, our ultimate Passover Lamb. We open the guest rooms of our hearts, our homes, and our minds to You today. Come in and dwell with us. Wash away our sins, break our chains, and fill us with Your peace. Help us to live each day in the freedom that Christ purchased for us on the cross.

In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

THE GOSPEL / MARK 14:9

START YOUR DAY RIGHT DAILY DEVOTION

(KJV) Mark 14:9

Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.

An Everlasting Memorial: Love, Extravagance, and the True Gospel

In Mark 14:9, Jesus makes a stunning declaration about a woman who pours a jar of expensive alabaster perfume over His head: “Truly I tell you, wherever the gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her.”

At first glance, the disciples saw this act as a financial waste. They argued the perfume could have been sold to help the poor. But Jesus saw something much deeper. He saw a heart that completely understood the gravity of the moment. This woman wasn’t just performing a random act of kindness; she was preparing His body for burial. She held nothing back, offering her most valuable possession to the King of Kings.

What is the Gospel?

Jesus explicitly ties her beautiful sacrifice to the preaching of the gospel. The word “gospel” comes from the Old English term meaning “good message” or “good news,” translating the original Greek word euangelion. This good news is the ultimate message of hope: God has provided a way for us to receive forgiveness and enter into a personal relationship with Him through the life, death, and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ.

When the gospel is proclaimed in the power of the Holy Spirit, it carries distinct, life-altering attributes:

  • It comes with absolute authority (Matthew 28:18-20) and demands a response of repentance—turning from our own sinful way to follow God’s purposes (Mark 1:15).
  • It exposes sin by working on our consciences, showing us what is right, and reminding us that we are accountable to God (John 16:8).
  • It brings spiritual salvation, freedom, and life, rescuing us from the power of sin and Satan (Romans 1:16; Acts 26:18).
  • It inspires deep faith, hope, and peace (Romans 10:17; Colossians 1:5), while gently warning us of the reality of judgment if we refuse it (Romans 2:16).

A Beautiful Response to Great News

The woman in Mark 14 models the exact response the gospel demands. When we truly grasp the weight of the good news—that Christ died to rescue us from permanent separation from God—our natural response should be extravagant devotion.

Her sacrifice was memorable because it matched the extravagance of the gospel itself. Jesus gave everything for us on the cross; she gave her very best in return. Today, as the gospel continues to be preached around the world, her story stands as a timeless visual anchor of what it looks like to love Jesus without reservation.

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the beautiful, powerful reality of the gospel. Thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus Christ, to offer us forgiveness, life, and an eternal relationship with You. We confess that we often hold back our time, our talents, and our treasures. Forgive us for the times we view devotion as a waste rather than a privilege.

Holy Spirit, break our hearts open like the alabaster jar. Inspire within us a faith that is willing to give extravagantly to the honor of Jesus. Let our lives be a sweet fragrance of worship to You. May the good news continue to go forth with authority across the world, transforming hearts, exposing sin, and bringing salvation to all who hear. We ask these things in the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

TO HIM WHO IS ABLE TO KEEP YOU FROM FALLING / JUDE 1:24-25

START YOUR DAY RIGHT DAILY DEVOTION

(KJV) Jude 1:24-25

Secure in His Hands: The Keeping Power of God

The small New Testament epistle of Jude is often remembered for its intense, sobering warnings. Throughout most of his letter, Jude pulls no punches as he exposes the corruption, deception, and moral decay brought on by ungodly people trying to infiltrate the church. Reading through these verses can easily leave a believer feeling overwhelmed by the weight of spiritual warfare and the threat of deception.

Yet, Jude does not leave us in a state of fear. In his final moments, he shifts his gaze away from the chaos of the world and fixes it entirely on the majesty of heaven. He concludes his letter with one of the most powerful, breathtaking doxologies in all of Scripture:

“To him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy—to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.” — Jude 1:24-25

After warning us about those who stumble and lead others astray, Jude turns our positive attention back to God. He leaves us with three comforting truths that anchor our faith.

1. He Is Able to Keep You From Falling

Our spiritual security does not depend on our own limited stamina, grit, or perfection. It relies entirely on the capability of the Almighty. The Greek word used for “falling” or “stumbling” carries the imagery of a sure-footed horse traversing rugged, dangerous terrain without missing a step. The world around us may feel like a spiritual minefield, but the Savior walks with us, holding us steady when our ankles grow weak. When you feel inadequate or terrified of failing, remember that He is the one actively protecting and sustaining your steps.

2. He Will Present You Without Fault

The ultimate goal of God’s protective grace is our final presentation. One day, we will stand face-to-face before His intensely brilliant, holy, and glorious presence. On our own merits, this would be a terrifying prospect. But because of the cleansing work of Jesus Christ, God does not see our mistakes, fractures, or past failures. He presents us blameless and unblemished. He removes every sin barrier, dressing us in the pure righteousness of His Son.

3. It Will Be a Day of Great Joy

Standing before the Creator of the universe will not be a moment of anxiety, dread, or quiet relief. Jude promises it will happen with exceeding, triumphant joy. It is a celebration of rescue. God experiences joy in preserving His children, and we will experience unspeakable delight as we finally step into the eternity we were designed for.

While we must remain vigilant, love truth, and obey His voice, our ultimate confidence rests safely in His hands. We can rest today knowing that the One who started a good work in us is perfectly capable of finishing it.

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father, Almighty God and Savior, we bow before You today acknowledging that this world can feel fractured, confusing, and filled with spiritual pitfalls. We confess that in our own strength, we are prone to wander and quick to stumble. Thank You for the beautiful, unchanging promise that our ultimate security rests in Your hands, not our own.

We praise You because You are able. You are able to guard our hearts from deception, keep our feet steady on the path of righteousness, and preserve our faith through every trial. Forgive us for the moments we live in fear of falling away, and help us instead to rest in Your keeping power.

Thank You for the cross of Jesus Christ, which washes us clean and guarantees that we will one day stand in Your glorious presence without a single fault. Fill us with the anticipatory, triumphant joy of that day. To You alone—the only wise God—be all glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, now and throughout all eternity.

In the holy name of Jesus, Amen.

SHOW MERCY, MIXED WITH FEAR / JUDE 1:22-23

START YOUR DAY RIGHT DAILY DEVOTION

(KJV) Jude 1:22-23

And of some have compassion, making a difference: 23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

Show Mercy, Mixed with Fear: Rescuing the Wandering

How do we respond when people around us begin to drift from the truth? In a world filled with competing voices and deceptive philosophies, it is easy for believers to become frustrated, compromised, or indifferent. However, the short but powerful book of Jude provides a clear, three-part blueprint for handling those who are wavering in their faith.

“Be merciful to those who doubt; snatch others from the fire and save them; to others show mercy, mixed with fear—hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.” — Jude 1:22-23

Jude urges true believers to show profound mercy, directing this compassion not toward the deceptive false teachers, but toward the victims caught in their influence. As we navigate these delicate situations, Jude breaks our rescue mission down into three distinct approaches.

1. Compassion for the Doubter

First, Jude instructs us to “be merciful to those who doubt.” Sincere questioning and spiritual instability require patience, not condemnation. When someone is wrestling with their faith or confused by false teachings, our first instinct must be gentleness. We are called to pray for them and try gently but firmly to persuade them to remain loyal to the truth and to their faith.

2. Urgency for the Endangered

Second, for those further down the path of destruction, the strategy changes to urgent intervention: “snatch others from the fire and save them.” This speaks to those on the absolute brink of spiritual ruin. There is no time for passive hesitation. Like pulling a child away from a blazing fire, we must move with bold, loving, and immediate action to speak truth and disrupt their downward spiral.

3. Caution for the Rescuer

Finally, Jude gives a sobering warning for dealing with the deeply compromised: “to others show mercy, mixed with fear—hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.”

While we are called to extend mercy, we must do so with absolute vigilance. Sin is incredibly contagious. In the process of trying to help others, we must be very careful that we ourselves do not get caught in the enticement of sin. The corruption is so deep that even the spiritual “clothing” of the wicked is stained. We must love the wayward, but fiercely hate and avoid the compromise that ensnared them.

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Give us the wisdom to discern the needs of those around us. Grant us hearts of deep mercy to comfort the doubter, holy urgency to snatch the endangered from destruction, and spiritual vigilance to protect our own steps from compromise. Keep our faith anchored securely in your truth, so that we may reach out to the wandering without falling ourselves. May our love be fierce, our truth unwavering, and our lives holy.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

BUILD YOURSELVES UP / JUDE 1:20-21

START YOUR DAY RIGHT DAILY DEVOTION

(KJV) Jude 1:20-21

These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit. 20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,

Anchored in Truth: Four Ways to Build Yourselves Up

In a world filled with shifting cultural tides and compromising ideas, standing firm in the truth can feel like an uphill battle. The brief but powerful New Testament letter of Jude addresses this exact struggle. While much of his letter warns against deceptive influences, Jude pivots beautifully in Jude 1:20-21 to give us an active, practical battle plan for spiritual stability:

“But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit; keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.”

Jude reminds us that true believers are not passive bystanders. We must actively defend, promote, and resist false teaching. Here are the four distinct ways Jude outlines for us to build ourselves up and stay anchored.

1. Dig Deep into the Word of God

The “most holy faith” Jude refers to is not a vague feeling or a personal opinion. It is the definitive New Testament revelation handed down by Jesus Christ and His original messengers—the faith that was “once for all entrusted to God’s holy people” (Jude 1:3).

Building ourselves up on this foundation requires an intentional, disciplined approach to Scripture. We must move beyond surface-level readings and commit to the diligent study of God’s Word. True growth happens when we make a determined effort to apply these timeless biblical teachings directly to our daily choices, behaviors, and mindsets (Acts 2:42; 2 Timothy 2:15).

2. Communicate through the Power of the Spirit

We cannot sustain our faith through human willpower alone. Jude commands us to “pray in the Holy Spirit,” which means communicating and interacting with God by relying entirely on the Spirit’s power.

When we pray in the Spirit, we depend on Him to inspire, guide, energize, and sustain our conversations with God. He aligns our hearts so that we pray according to God’s perfect will (1 John 5:14) and serves as our helper in spiritual warfare (Ephesians 6:18). This comprehensive prayer life engages both our mind—praying with understanding in our own native language—and our spirit as we yield to His internal prompting (1 Corinthians 14:15).

3. Rest Under the Influence of God’s Love

Jude charges us to “keep yourselves in God’s love.” This does not mean we must earn God’s affection; rather, it means we must deliberately live under the constant care, protection, and influence of His love.

How do we practically remain there? Jesus gave us the answer clear as day: through faithful obedience to His Word. In John 15:9-10, Jesus explains that when we keep His commands, we remain securely in His love. Walking in obedience keeps our hearts sensitive to His presence and shields us from the damaging deceptions of the world.

4. Live with Eager Anticipation of His Return

Finally, a resilient faith requires a forward-looking perspective. We are called to live with great desire and anticipation for Jesus’ return and the eternal glory that will accompany it.

When our daily thoughts are shaped by the reality of eternity and the promise of Christ’s ultimate mercy, the temporary distractions and false teachings of this world lose their pull. Looking forward to our heavenly home (John 14:2) provides the ultimate endurance to stand strong today, knowing that our final victory is already secured.

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the firm, unshakeable foundation of the holy faith handed down through Your Word. Forgive us for the times we have tried to stand on our own strength or drifted into passive routines. Today, we ask for the grace and discipline to build ourselves up continually in Your truth.

Holy Spirit, we invite You to breathe life into our prayers. Inspire us, guide our thoughts, and give us the discernment needed to recognize and resist deception. Teach us to pray according to Your perfect will and anchor us deeply in the Father’s love.

Help us walk in joyful obedience to Your commands this week. Keep our eyes fixed firmly on the horizon, living each day with an eager expectation for the glorious return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It is in His mighty and holy name we pray, Amen.

FOLLOW MERE NATURAL INSTINCTS / JUDE 1:19

START YOUR DAY RIGHT DAILY DEVOTION

(JKV) Jude 1:19

These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.

Unmasking the “Spiritual” Imposter: A Deep Dive into Jude 1:19

We live in a world obsessed with spiritual branding. From social media bios to prominent pulpits, it is easy to find individuals claiming a high level of spiritual enlightenment, special revelation, or unique divine backing. But what happens when the lifestyle does not match the label?

In his brief but hard-hitting letter, Jude pulls back the curtain on individuals who master the language of faith but lack its actual substance. Let’s look closely at Jude 1:19:

“These are the men who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit.”

The Irony of the “Sensual” Accusation

To understand the weight of Jude’s words, we have to look at the psychological and theological games these false teachers were playing. The corrupt individuals infiltrating the early church claimed to be completely “spiritual.” They operated under a distorted form of grace—an early version of Gnosticism—believing that because their spirits were saved, it did not matter what they did with their physical bodies.

They used this faulty reasoning to justify deep immoral behavior. Ironically, they looked down on ordinary believers, labeling them as “sensual” or “worldly-minded” because those believers still cared about holiness, boundaries, and physical obedience.

Here, Jude turns their own weapon against them. He flips their faulty logic on its head, showing that the very people claiming to operate on a higher spiritual plane are the ones actually controlled entirely by sensual desire.

Following Mere Natural Instincts

When Jude writes that they follow mere natural instincts, he uses a specific phrase to describe someone who operates entirely on a soulish, animalistic level. They are driven by:

  • Fleshly desires: Prioritizing immediate physical gratification over holiness.
  • Human logic: Substituting God’s revealed truth with worldly wisdom and cultural trends.
  • Personal gain: Exploiting the faith of others to feed their own pride and pockets.

Rather than being highly spiritual, they are entirely “soulish”. They can use religious vocabulary and simulate spiritual fervor, but their default setting is entirely rooted in their fallen human nature.

The Ultimate Verdict: Not Saved

Jude delivers a devastating final blow to their religious resume: they “do not have the Spirit.”

This isn’t just a critique of their teaching style; it is an indictment of their spiritual state. Scripture makes it explicitly clear that the Holy Spirit is the seal of true salvation. As Paul writes in Romans 8:9:

“You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ.”

By declaring that these individuals do not have the Spirit, Jude reveals that they are not saved at all. They are religious imposters fracturing the church from the inside out. True spiritual maturity creates unity, humility, and holiness; false spirituality creates division, pride, and compromise.

Examining Our Own Walk

Jude’s warning is as urgent today as it was in the first century. It calls us to examine where our true alignment lies:

  • Are we letting the Holy Spirit transform our behavior, choices, and speech?
  • Or are we merely using religious language to cover up a lifestyle driven by natural instincts and self-interest?

Let us stay grounded in the true Word of God, testing every spirit, and leaning heavily on the Holy Spirit to guide us into true holiness, unity, and truth.

A Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the clarity of Your Word which cuts through deception and reveals the thoughts and intents of our hearts. Lord, deliver us from the trap of a superficial spirituality that honors You with our lips while our hearts and bodies are far from You.

We pray for deep discernment in these days. Protect Your Church from divisive influencers who follow their own natural instincts rather than Your Holy Spirit. Fill us afresh with Your Spirit, so that our lives produce the genuine fruit of holiness, humility, and love. May our allegiance belong entirely to Jesus Christ, and may our walk match our talk. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

IN THE LAST TIMES / JUDE 1:18

START YOUR DAY RIGHT DAILY DEVOTION

(KJV) Jude 1:18

How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.

Anchored in the Last Times: A Reflection on Jude 1:18

In a world that feels increasingly chaotic, Jude 1:18 provides a sobering baseline for the believer. The verse reminds us of a specific apostolic warning: “In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires.”

This scripture is not meant to induce fear, but to offer divine clarity. When we witness cultural shifts away from truth, or encounter cynicism toward the sacred, we are seeing prophecy in real time. The presence of scoffers does not mean God has lost control; rather, it proves His Word remains entirely accurate.

Living in these “last times” demands that we shift from passive survival to active steadfastness. We are called to build ourselves up in the most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, and keeping ourselves anchored in the love of God. The noise of the world may grow louder, but the truth of the gospel remains unshakeable.

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father,

We thank You for the clarity of Your Word, which warns us so that we are never caught off guard. In these challenging times, guard our hearts against the cynicism and ungodly desires that surround us. Grant us the discernment to recognize falsehood and the courage to stand firm in Your truth.

When our faith is tested by scoffers, let Your Holy Spirit anchor us deeper in love, patience, and holiness. We ask for the strength to remain faithful until the very end, trusted entirely to the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
