START YOUR DAY RIGHT DAILY DEVOTION

(KJV) Colossians 1:27
To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
Christ in You: The Hope of Glory
We often spend our lives searching for certainty. We look for guarantees in our careers, our relationships, and our health, yet the world continues to offer shifting sand. But thousands of years ago, the Apostle Paul wrote down a radical, unshakeable truth that changes everything for the believer:
“To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.” — Colossians 1:27
This isn’t just a comforting piece of poetry. It is a profound, life-altering spiritual reality.
The Mystery Revealed
For generations, God’s presence was associated with specific places—the Tabernacle, the Holy of Holies, or the temple in Jerusalem. It was distant, guarded, and veiled. But through the death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ, the ultimate “mystery” was unlocked. God’s presence would no longer dwell in buildings made by human hands.
Instead, He chose a new temple: you.
When you place your faith in Jesus, Christ’s living in us by His Holy Spirit becomes our definitive assurance of future glory and eternal life. As Ephesians reminds us, the Holy Spirit seals us, acting as the ultimate guarantee of our full redemption (Ephesians 1:13-14; 4:30).
Companionship Over Imitation
Many people treat Christianity as a high-stakes game of imitation, exhausting themselves trying to behave exactly like Jesus using their own willpower. But the gospel tells a different story. It’s not about forcing yourself to act like a distant savior; it’s about allowing His living Spirit to animate your daily life.
Only Christ’s inner presence and our ongoing, intimate companionship and interaction with Him can remove any doubt about being with Him forever in heaven. When fear rises or doubt creeps in, we can lean into the staggering truth of Romans 8:11: the very same resurrection power that raised Jesus from the dead is actively dwelling inside of you.
Simply put: To have Christ is to have life (John 17:3; 1 John 5:11-12).
Walking in the Hope of Glory
What does this mean for your Monday mornings, your difficult relationships, or your seasons of grief?
- You are never stranded: You don’t have to face life’s battles out of your own limited resources. His wisdom, His peace, and His strength are fully accessible within you right now.
- Your destiny is secure: The word “hope” in the New Testament doesn’t mean a wishful thought; it means a joyful, confident expectation. Because Christ is in you today, you have a solid guarantee that you will share in His eternal glory tomorrow. One day, all suffering and sin will fade, and we will be fully conformed to His image.
Stop trying to reach up to a distant heaven. Rest in the quiet, monumental truth that the King of Kings has made His home in you.
A Closing Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the breathtaking gift of this mystery revealed—that You do not dwell in temples of stone, but right here within us. Lord Jesus, thank You for making my heart Your home. I ask that You would grant me a profound, daily awareness of Your indwelling Holy Spirit.
When I face seasons of struggle, weakness, or uncertainty, remind me that I am not operating under my own power. Let Your resurrection strength, Your unmatched wisdom, and Your perfect peace flow through me. Anchor my soul in the joyful certainty that because You live in me, my future glory and eternal life are forever secure. May my life be a clear reflection of Your love to a broken world.
In the mighty name of Jesus, our Savior and our hope, Amen.
