FOR THE SCATTERED CHILDREN OF GOD / JOHN 11:51-52

(KJV) John 11:51-52

And this spake he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation; ⁵² And not for that nation only, but that also he should gather together in one the children of God that were scattered abroad.

God’s love is too vast to be contained by borders, walls, or divisions.

In John 11:51-52, we catch a profound glimpse of the ultimate purpose behind Jesus’ sacrifice. The Gospel writer notes that the high priest Caiaphas prophesied without realizing the full depth of his words: “…he prophesied that Jesus would die for the Jewish nation, and not only for that nation but also for the scattered children of God, to bring them together and make them one.”

A Death That Breaks Borders

Jesus did not lay down His life for a single group, nationality, or culture. His death shattered ethnic and geographical boundaries, sending ripples of spiritual life across the globe, generation after generation.

• Universal Redemption: As John the Baptist declared, He is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world (John 1:29).
• An Open Invitation: His sacrifice ensures that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16).
• The Savior of All: He is truly recognized not just as a local prophet, but as the Savior of the world (John 4:42).

Gathered from the Scattered Places

Right now, you might feel isolated, disconnected, or scattered. You might feel like an outsider in your current circumstances. But Jesus promises that He has “other sheep that are not of this sheep pen” and that He must bring them along so there will be “one flock and one shepherd” (John 10:16).

No matter how far you have wandered or how isolated you feel, you are a child of God. The cross of Christ is the ultimate magnet, drawing the lonely, the broken, and the scattered from every corner of the earth into one beautifully diverse family. You belong to a global, eternal kingdom, united under the banner of His love.

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the profound depth of Your love. Thank You that Jesus did not die just for a select few, but to gather Your scattered children from all over the world. We praise You that His sacrifice reaches across continents, cultures, and generations to bring us into Your family.

Lord, look upon those who feel isolated, scattered, or disconnected today. Remind them of their true identity as Your beloved children. Break down the walls that divide us and draw us closer to the heart of the One Shepherd, Jesus Christ. Make us one, just as You are one, so that the world may see Your love through our unity.

In Jesus’ holy name we pray, Amen.
