BE ACTIVE IN SHARING YOUR FAITH / PHILEMON 1:6

START YOUR DAY RIGHT DAILY DEVOION

(KJV) Philemon 1:6

That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.

The Unexpected Reward of Sharing Your Faith

Among the most rewarding experiences in the Christian life is the privilege of introducing others to Jesus. Those who actively communicate their faith—both in actions and words—are fulfilling Jesus’ Great Commission to take His message to all the world (Matthew 28:19; Mattheew 28:20; Mark 16:15).

Anyone who has had the opportunity to lead another person to faith in Jesus Christ knows the tremendous sense of joy, purpose, and fulfillment that comes from helping someone enter a personal relationship with God. Leading others to Christ is perhaps the highest good we can achieve. Not only are we influential in helping others receive eternal life, but we also unlock a profound personal blessing in the process.

Unlocking the Fullness of Christ

In his short letter to Philemon, the Apostle Paul shares a powerful truth about the mechanics of spiritual growth:

“I pray that your partnership with us in the faith may be effective in deepening your understanding of every good thing we share for the sake of Christ.” — Philemon 1:6 (NIV)

Another translation puts it this way: active faith sharing leads to “a full understanding of everything good we have in Christ.”

We often think that we need to fully understand our faith before we start sharing it. We wait until we think we have all the answers, the perfect theology, or the right words. But Scripture flips this concept on its head. Paul implies that the deep, experiential understanding of our blessings in Christ comes through the act of sharing.

When you step out in faith to speak about Jesus or show His love to someone else, your own faith becomes alive and active. You begin to see God move, you witness the power of the Gospel firsthand, and your eyes are opened to the sheer magnitude of the grace, peace, and hope that you already possess in Him.

Moving Into Action

Sharing your faith doesn’t require a theology degree. It requires a willing heart. You can start today by:

  • Living intentionally: Let your daily actions, kindness, and integrity reflect the character of Jesus to those around you.
  • Sharing your story: Your personal testimony of what God has done in your life is one of the most powerful tools you have.
  • Inviting conversation: Ask people about their lives, listen with genuine love, and look for opportunities to share the hope that lives inside you.

As you actively step out, you will find your own relationship with God deepened, your joy amplified, and your understanding of His goodness made complete.

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for the incredible gift of salvation and the profound riches we have in Christ Jesus. Forgive us for the times we have stayed silent or let fear keep us from sharing Your love. Fill us with the Holy Spirit and grant us the boldness to actively communicate our faith through both our words and our actions. Open our eyes to the opportunities around us today. As we step out to introduce others to You, deepen our own understanding of every good thing we have in Christ. May our lives bring glory to Your name and draw others into Your eternal kingdom. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
