“You anoint my head with oil”	This refers to a practice provided for honored guests at a banquet to refresh them after a long journey. In a pastoral sense, shepherds also anointed sheep with oil to heal wounds and repel insects.	This speaks of God’s special favor and blessing. Through the Holy Spirit, He continuously refreshes, heals, and empowers your body, mind, and spirit (Ephesians 5:18). He gives you exactly what you need to live and enjoy His presence (2 Corinthians 12:9-10).
“My cup overflows”	In Hebrew culture, an overflowing cup symbolized a host’s immense generosity. This likely refers to a shepherd’s cup—a large, hollowed-out stone that could hold 40 to 50 gallons from which the sheep drank.	God does not give in moderation; His grace is extravagant. The Shepherd, Jesus, who laid down His life for His own sheep, has made this abundant life available to you forever (1 Corinthians 11:23).

Living in the Overflow

The next time you feel overwhelmed by the pressures of the world, picture the table God has set specifically for you. Your enemies might be watching, but they are completely powerless to stop the blessings, the protection, and the favor that God is pouring into your life. You are an honored guest of the King of Kings. Your cup isn’t just full—it is running over.

Father God,

Thank You for being my Good Shepherd. Thank You that even when I am surrounded by trouble, negativity, or spiritual warfare, You invite me to sit down at Your table of peace. I praise You because no enemy can steal the blessings You have ordained for my life.

Lord, I ask that You anoint my head with oil today. Let Your Holy Spirit refresh my tired mind, heal my hidden wounds, and empower me with fresh strength.
