Living in “Those Days”: Reclaiming the Purpose of Fasting

In Luke 5:35, Jesus delivers a profound answer to the religious leaders questioning His ministry: “But the time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them; in those days they will fast.” These words bridge the gap between His earthly ministry and the modern Church era. Today, we find ourselves living in the exact timeframe Jesus foretold.

Christian fasting is not a restrictive, ancient rule or an empty ritual. Instead, it is a purposeful spiritual discipline rooted in a deep, desperate longing for the presence of Christ. When we abstain from physical food, we are actively declaring that our spiritual hunger for God outweighs our earthly appetites.

The Joy of the Presence, the Ache of the Absence

To understand why we fast, we must look at the picture Jesus paints of a wedding feast. While the bridegroom is physically present with the guests, it is a season for celebration, eating, and drinking. The disciples did not need to fast while walking alongside Jesus because their souls were completely satisfied in His tangible presence.

However, Jesus knew a shift was coming. His arrest, crucifixion, and ultimate ascension would leave a temporary physical void. In this current era, we love and serve a Savior whom we cannot physically see. Fasting becomes the physical punctuation mark to our prayers, acting as a tangible exclamation point that says, “This world is not my home, and I am not fully satisfied until I see Your face.”

Fasting as Active Waiting

Many people mistakenly view fasting as a way to manipulate God or earn His favor. Biblical fasting under the New Covenant actually serves an entirely different purpose:

Amplifying Spiritual Focus: Saying “no” to our physical stomach allows us to say a deeper “yes” to the Holy Spirit.
Expressing Kingdom Longing: Every hunger pang is a reminder to pray, “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done.”
Breaking Comfort Addictions: Fasting exposes the earthly comforts we rely on for peace instead of relying on God.

We live in the tension of the “already but not yet.” Christ has already won the victory, but His Kingdom has not yet been fully consummated on earth. Until that final wedding supper of the Lamb, we fast to keep our hearts alert, our spirits sharp, and our oil burning bright.

Closing Prayer

Abba Father,

We acknowledge that we are living in the days Your Son spoke of—waiting and longing for the return of our Bridegroom. Forgive us for the times we have tried to satisfy our eternal souls with temporary, worldly comforts. We ask that You redirect our primary hunger and thirst back toward You and Your righteousness.

As we practice the discipline of fasting, let it never become a performance or an empty religious habit. Instead, let it be an authentic cry of love from our hearts. Use our seasons of self-denial to break the power of distractions, purify our desires, and refine our focus. We declare that we need You more than physical bread. Keep our lamps burning bright as we watch, pray, and eagerly wait for the day we see You face to face.

EAT AND DRINK WITH … ‘SINNERS’ / LUKE 5:30

But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with publicans and sinners?

Eat and Drink With “Sinners”

We often look at the account of Jesus eating with tax collectors and outcasts in Luke 5:30 and marvel at His radical hospitality. The religious elites of the day, the Pharisees and their scribes, were deeply offended. They complained to Jesus’ disciples, asking, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”

The Sickness We All Share

Jesus’ response is one of the most profound summaries of His entire earthly ministry: “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance” (Luke 5:31-32).

When Jesus used this medical analogy, He was not validating the Pharisees’ belief that they were spiritually healthy. Instead, He was exposing the ultimate barrier to salvation: self-righteousness.

To receive the healing work of the Savior, a person must first recognize that they are spiritually terminal. The outcasts at Matthew’s feast knew their brokenness. The Pharisees, blinded by their own external morality, could not see their desperate need for the Doctor.

The Danger of Spiritual Blindness

Parallel accounts like Matthew 9:11 remind us that the tragedy of the religious leaders was not that they were without sin, but that they were without an awareness of it. They were just as separated from God as the tax collectors, yet their pride kept them from the remedy.

If we do not admit we are spiritually sick, we will never seek the Physician. True spiritual healing begins at the end of ourselves—when we drop the facade of goodness and admit our deep need for divine grace. Jesus is still pulling up a chair to eat and drink with those who know they need Him. The only question left is whether we will join the table or stand outside complaining.

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Forgive us for the times we look at others through the lens of judgment rather than grace. Guard our hearts against the subtle, dangerous trap of self-righteousness. Remind us daily of our own deep spiritual sickness and the overwhelming mercy that healed us.

Give us the humility to admit our ongoing need for You, the Great Physician. Lord, fill us with the same compassionate heart that drove Jesus to pull up a chair with the broken, the hurting, and the outcast. May our lives reflect Your radical grace to a world desperate for healing.

SON OF MAN / LUKE 5:24

But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house.

The authority to forgive sins belongs to Jesus Christ, the Son of Man who walks with us in our humanity.

The Power to Heal and Forgive

In Luke 5:24, Jesus heals a paralyzed man to prove a profound reality: “But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins…” He didn’t just mend a broken body. He restored a broken soul.

The religious leaders of the day were scandalized. They knew that only God could forgive sins. By claiming this authority, Jesus was revealing His divine identity. Yet, He chose to call Himself the “Son of Man.”

Why “Son of Man”?

The “Son of Man” was the expression Jesus most often used to refer to Himself. It is likely He had adopted the expression from Daniel 7:13. Daniel used the title to describe a person he saw in a vision, one “like a son of man” coming with the clouds of heaven, who is given an everlasting kingdom.

In using this expression, Jesus is saying that He is the predicted Messiah sent by God. The phrase emphasizes Jesus’ humanity—the fact that God came to us through Christ—and His ability to relate to, help, and save us.

Jesus uses this title across the Gospels to reveal different facets of His mission:

As a substitute for “I” to show His humble walk on earth (Matthew 11:19)
When making important claims about His authority and purpose (Matthew 20:28; Mark 10:45)
When predicting His death on the cross for our transgressions (Mark 9:44; 8:31; Matthew 17:22)
When speaking about His resurrection and victory over death (Matthew 17:9)
When referring to His glorious return to earth in final triumph (Matthew 24:27; Mark 13:26; 14:62)
When speaking of His role in judgment over all creation (Matthew 13:41)

Earthly Authority, Heavenly Grace

When you feel weighed down by guilt, shame, or physical brokenness, remember Luke 5:24. The Son of Man has authority on earth right now to forgive you. He understands your weaknesses because He became human, yet He possesses the ultimate power of God to make you whole. You can step into true freedom today.

Heavenly Father,

We thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus Christ, to dwell among us. We praise You, Jesus, as the Son of Man—our sympathetic High Priest who understands our human frailties, and our glorious King who holds all authority. Thank You for exercising Your power on earth to forgive our sins and heal our brokenness. Wash us clean today. Where we feel paralyzed by guilt, doubt, or fear, speak Your word of authority and bid us to rise and walk. May we live daily in the freedom of Your grace, looking forward to the day You return in the clouds with power and great glory.

JESUS KNEW WHAT THEY WERE THINKING / LUKE 5:22

The Audience of One: Guarding Your Mind When Jesus Knows Your Thoughts

When you realize that Jesus knows exactly what you are thinking, your private internal world suddenly shifts from an isolated vacuum into an active relationship with a living God. In Luke 5:22, we encounter a profound moment where the religious leaders silently question Christ’s authority to forgive sins. Before a single word escapes their mouths, the text reveals: “Jesus knew what they were thinking and asked, ‘Why are you thinking these things in your hearts?'”.

This isn’t a parlor trick; it is a manifestation of divine omniscience. This truth can be intensely sobering, but it offers a transformative baseline for daily Christian living.

The Reality of His Omniscience

Scripture consistently reminds us that our internal monologue has an audience of One. God doesn’t just evaluate our external performance; He maps our deepest thoughts, longings, and imaginations.

The Scope of His Search: As detailed in Psalms 139, God discerns our thoughts from afar. Christ repeatedly demonstrates this real-time awareness throughout the Gospels—whether addressing Peter’s assumptions (Matthew 17:25), seeing Nathanael under the fig tree (John 1:48), or piercing straight through human deception (John 2:25; John 21:17).
Nothing is Hidden: Every secret ambition, silent irritation, and stray fantasy is laid bare before Him. As Hebrews 4:13 warns, nothing in all creation is hidden from His sight; everything is uncovered and exposed to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

The Weight of Undisciplined Thoughts

It is a common pitfall to assume that thoughts are harmless as long as they aren’t acted upon. However, Jesus radically elevates the standard of internal holiness.

In Matthew 5:27-28, He explains that continuing to cultivate, indulge, and imagine ungodly things carries the same moral weight as committing the outward sin. A heart that continuously builds a home for resentment, lust, greed, or pride is a heart operating out of step with grace. Our minds are the testing ground for our actions. Left unmanaged, unchecked imagination inevitably hardens into sinful reality.

Three Steps to Reclaiming Your Mind

Recognizing this internal weakness shouldn’t drive us into despair or condemnation; it should drive us into a deeper reliance on the Holy Spirit. Winning the war for your mind requires intentional, spiritual discipline:

      [ CAPTURE ] ──► Identify ungodly thoughts early (2 Cor 10:5)

      [ RENEW ]   ──► Align the mind with Scripture (Rom 12:2)

      [ ANCHOR ]  ──► Focus on what is true and pure (Phil 4:8)

Take Every Thought Captive:
According to 2 Corinthians 10:5, we must actively destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to obey Christ. Stop letting harmful thoughts run on autopilot. Identify them early, call them out, and hand them over to Him.
Commit to True Renewal:
We cannot fight a broken mindset with sheer willpower. Romans 12:2 admonishes us: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” This transformation is a daily exchange—trading our natural anxieties and impulses for the truth of God’s Word.
Anchor Your Attention Productively:
To keep your mind clear of toxic patterns, you must fill it with things of substance. Philippians 4:8 provides a filtering system: fix your thoughts on whatever is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, excellent, and worthy of praise.

Your mind is a sacred space meant for fellowship with God. Instead of fearing His omniscience, find great comfort in it. The One who knows your deepest, darkest thoughts is the exact same Savior who willingly went to the cross to forgive them.

A Closing Prayer for a Renewed Mind

Heavenly Father,

You are the One who searches my heart and knows my thoughts before they are even formed on my tongue. Forgive me for the moments I have allowed my imagination to dwell on things that dishonor You, pretending that my secret thoughts were hidden from Your sight.

I ask today for the strength and discipline to guard my mind. Holy Spirit, pull down every stronghold of pride, anxiety, lust, or bitterness that tries to take root within me. Renew my mind daily through Your truth. Help me to immediately take every wandering thought captive and make it obedient to Jesus Christ. May the meditation of my heart be pleasing and acceptable to You, my Rock and my Redeemer.

CARRYING A PARALYTIC / LUKE 5:18

The Power of a Four-Man Faith: Carrying Each Other to Jesus

We all have moments when the weight of life leaves us paralyzed. Whether it is paralyzed by anxiety, brokenness, or spiritual exhaustion, there are seasons when we simply cannot walk on our own.

In Luke 5:18, we meet a man who was physically paralyzed, completely dependent on the strength of others. But more than a story about physical illness, this is a profound beautiful picture of intercessory faith, determination, and community.

Determination That Breaks Through Roofs

The friends of the paralyzed man did not just wish him well; they went to work. When they encountered a crowd so dense that the doors were blocked, they did not turn back. They did not say, “We will try again next week.”

True love and deep faith are fiercely determined. These men carried their friend up to the roof, began tearing away the tiles, and lowered the man right into the center of the room, directly in front of Jesus.

How often do we give up on praying for or helping someone when the first obstacle arises? The example of these friends challenges us to use every opportunity, to think outside the box, and to push past social boundaries to introduce people to Christ. If we truly desire to bring others to Jesus, the Holy Spirit will provide the creativity and the opportunities to do so.

A Faith That Jesus Sees

Luke 5:20 contains a startling detail: “When Jesus saw their faith, he said, ‘Friend, your sins are forgiven.'”

Notice that Jesus did not just look at the faith of the paralyzed man. He looked at the faith and determination of the friends. It was their collective confidence in Christ’s power that opened the door for both spiritual salvation and physical healing.

Our faith matters for other people. Your prayers, your refusal to give up on a loved one, and your willingness to carry them to the feet of Jesus can be the very catalyst God uses to transform their life. We must live with the absolute confidence that Christ can meet the needs of those we know. Who is God calling you to carry today?

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of community and for the ultimate healing found only in Your Son, Jesus Christ. Grant us a faith like the friends in Luke 5—a faith that is active, bold, and refuses to give up when obstacles arise. Holy Spirit, give us the determination to carry our loved ones, our neighbors, and the brokenhearted to the feet of Jesus. Open our eyes to the opportunities around us to introduce others to Your grace. Where there is paralysis of spirit, mind, or body, let Your healing power break through. We place those we love into Your hands, trusting completely in Your power to save and restore. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

THE POWER OF THE LORD WAS PRESENT / LUKE 5:17

And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them.

Experiencing the power of God transforms our daily trials into testimonies of His divine strength.

The Presence of Power

In Luke 5:17, we find a profound statement during a routine day of Jesus’ ministry: “And the power of the Lord was present to heal them.”

The Greek word used for power here is dunamis, which signifies inherent might, power, or strength. This isn’t just ordinary energy; it is the raw, supernatural ability of God. In the plural form (dunameis), this word is used throughout the New Testament to describe the miraculous works of Jesus.

What makes Luke 5:17 so striking is the context. Jesus was surrounded by Pharisees and teachers of the law who had traveled from every village of Galilee, Judea, and Jerusalem. They came with skepticism, but Jesus came with the atmosphere of heaven. The power to heal was not a distant hope—it was actively present in the room.

Power for Salvation and Healing

This same dunamis power defines the gospel message itself. In Romans 1:16, Paul declares that the gospel of Christ is the “power (dunamis) of God for salvation to everyone who believes.”

God’s power is not a historical artifact. It is an ongoing, active force meant to operate in and through the Church today. The Holy Spirit equips believers with powerful spiritual gifts to continue the ministry of Jesus. We see this explicitly in the early church:

Acts 4:33: The apostles gave witness to the resurrection with “great power.”
Acts 6:8: Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and signs among the people.
Acts 5:12-16: Multitudes were healed as the shadow of Peter passed by.

The healing ministry of Jesus did not stop when He ascended to heaven. Through the Holy Spirit, His church is called to be a conduit of that same dunamis power to a hurting world. When we gather in faith, His power is still present to save, deliver, and heal.

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father,

We thank You that You are the same yesterday, today, and forever. Your power has not diminished, and Your arm is not too short to save. We ask that Your dunamis power would be present in our lives, our families, and our churches today.

Holy Spirit, fill us with Your strength and equip us with Your gifts. Grant us the boldness to preach the gospel and to lay hands on the sick, trusting that Your power is active to heal. Let Your presence break every chain of sickness, doubt, and despair. We declare that Your power is present to heal us today.

PRAYERS OF JESUS / LUKE 5:16

The Secret Source of Strength: Withdrawing to the Wilderness

In the middle of demanding schedules, endless notifications, and the constant pressure to perform, we often look for secrets to productivity and impact. Yet the greatest source of power in human history did not come from doing more, but from stepping away.

In Luke 5:16, we find a short but life-altering glimpse into the daily rhythm of Christ: “But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.”

The Rhythm of the Savior

Luke’s Gospel emphasizes the prayer life of Jesus more than any other. Before the crowds arrived, during the heights of His ministry, and in the shadow of the cross, Jesus was praying.

He prayed at His baptism (Luke 3:21-22). He spent the entire night praying before choosing His twelve disciples (Luke 6:12). He was praying just before the Transfiguration (Luke 9:29), in the agonizing garden of Gethsemane (Luke 22:44), and with His final breaths on the cross (Luke 23:46).

Jesus did not view prayer as a last resort for emergencies. It was His first response to daily life. It was the source of His supernatural guidance, His unshakeable peace, and His divine power.

If Jesus Needed It, How Much More Do We?

Consider the profound mystery of this truth: Jesus is Himself God. He held the power to heal the sick, calm the storms, and raise the dead with a single word. Yet, He routinely paused His ministry, left the multitudes behind, and sought out quiet, isolated spaces to connect with His Father.

If the sinless Son of God required consistent, uninterrupted time in prayer to accomplish the Father’s will, how can we expect to navigate our lives without it?

We often try to fight our battles, make major life decisions, and overcome temptation using our own strength and wisdom. We run on fumes, wondering why we feel anxious, exhausted, and defeated. The answer is found in the wilderness places Jesus frequented. To live with the power of God, we must prioritize the presence of God.

Finding Your “Lonely Place”

Withdrawing takes intentionality. The crowds did not want Jesus to leave, and your daily responsibilities will not willingly pause themselves either. You have to choose to step away.

Your lonely place does not have to be a literal desert. It can be a quiet room before the rest of the house wakes up, a parked car before a stressful meeting, or a evening walk without your phone. It is any space where you intentionally silence the noise of the world to hear the voice of your Father.

Make the choice today to step away from the crowd, leave the noise behind, and slip away to pray. It is in those quiet spaces that you will find the wisdom, direction, and power to fulfill God’s purpose for your life.

A Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father,

We are humbled by the example of Your Son, Jesus, who despite carrying the weight of the world, always made time to withdraw and seek Your face. Forgive us for the times we have tried to rely on our own strength, rushing through our days without anchoring our hearts in Your presence.

Teach us how to withdraw from the noise, the distractions, and the constant demands of this life. Give us a hunger for the quiet places where we can hear Your voice clearly. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit, and grant us the supernatural wisdom, direction, and power we need to overcome evil and accomplish Your perfect purpose for our lives.

The standard of discipleship is defined by immediate, faithful obedience rather than personal qualifications.

When Jesus tells Simon Peter, “Do not be afraid; from now on you will fish for people,” He redefines the trajectory of ordinary lives. The most striking element of this calling is not the skill of the men chosen, but their sudden, radical surrender.

The Myth of Qualification

We often assume God chooses the equipped. However, the calling of the first disciples proves that availability matters more than ability.

Ordinary Origins: These men were simple fishermen, not religious scholars or elite leaders.
Flawed Characters: They struggled with doubt, fear, and competition throughout their ministry.
Divine Selection: Jesus looked past their professional limits and saw hearts ready to be molded.

The Power of Immediate Response

The defining characteristic of Jesus’ closest followers was their willingness to drop everything. When Jesus called, they did not negotiate, delay, or demand a detailed roadmap.

Radical Abandonment: They left their nets, their boats, and their financial security behind.
Faith Over Sight: They recognized a divine authority in Jesus that demanded a response without hesitation.
Unqualified Yes: Their obedience was swift, simple, and complete.

Becoming Fishers of Men

Jesus takes our ordinary, daily routines and elevates them for eternal purposes. He does not ask you to have all the answers, perfect theological training, or an unblemished past. He asks for your willingness to follow Him into deep waters and trust His command.

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father,

We thank You that You do not call the qualified, but You qualify the called. Forgive us for the times we allow fear, inadequacy, or comfort to delay our obedience. Give us the courage of the first disciples to leave our nets behind whenever You speak. Strip away our hesitation and fill us with a quiet, bold faith. Transform our ordinary lives into instruments for Your kingdom, that we might faithfully fish for people and draw others to Your love.

Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.

The Touch of Evening Grace: Finding Healing in Luke 4:40

As the sun began to dip below the horizon, casting long shadows across the dusty streets of Capernaum, a quiet desperation filled the air. Word had spread rapidly through the fishing village: Jesus was in town, and He had the power to make things right.

Luke 4:40 captures this poignant, beautiful moment with remarkable simplicity:

“At sunset, the people brought to Jesus all who had various kinds of sickness, and laying his hands on each one, he healed them.”

There is a profound theological beauty hidden in the timing of this event. “At sunset” marked the end of the Sabbath day. According to Jewish law, carrying the sick or traveling during the Sabbath was restricted. The moment the sun went down, the restrictions lifted, and the floodgates of human need opened wide.

The people did not wait until morning. They didn’t care that Jesus had been preaching and working all day. In their brokenness, they ran to Him the very second they were able.

When they arrived, Jesus did something extraordinary. He didn’t issue a mass decree. He didn’t stand on a balcony, wave His hand, and pronounce a corporate blessing over the crowd. The text tells us that He laid His hands on each one and healed them.

Think of the intimacy of that moment. Jesus looked into the tired eyes of a mother holding a feverish child. He touched the withered hand of an outcast. He met the gaze of the blind, the lame, and the broken-hearted. Every single person received a personal touch from the Savior.

Today, you might be carrying a “various sickness” of your own. It might not be a physical ailment; it could be a fractured relationship, a heavy spirit of anxiety, or a hidden emotional wound. Whatever it is, the same Jesus who stood in Capernaum at sunset is available to you right now. He does not view you as a face in a crowd. He knows your name, He sees your specific pain, and He desires to bring His personal, healing touch into your life.

A Closing Prayer for Healing

Heavenly Father,

We come to You today reminded of Your immense tenderness and power. We thank You that You are a Savior who does not distance Yourself from our pain, but steps directly into our brokenness.

Lord, we bring to You the areas of our lives that need Your restoration. Whether we are suffering from physical sickness, mental exhaustion, or emotional grief, we ask for Your healing touch. Reach into our hearts, quiet our anxieties, and restore our bodies.

Thank You for seeing us as individuals. Thank You that we never have to wait for the sun to go down to seek Your mercy; Your grace is available to us every moment of every day. We place our trust entirely in You.

In the powerful and precious name of Jesus, Amen.

The Authority of the Kingdom: Confronting Darkness with Christ’s Power

In Luke 4:33-35, Jesus establishes His identity as the true Messiah by directly confronting and completely dismantling demonic powers. Immediately after announcing His public ministry, Jesus demonstrates that the arrival of the Kingdom of God is not just a message of comfort, but a decisive declaration of war against the kingdom of darkness.

The Synagogue Confrontation: A Clash of Two Kingdoms

In the Capernaum synagogue, a man possessed by an unclean demon cries out in terror. The demonic response reveals an intense spiritual reality:

“Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God.” — Luke 4:34

The spirit instantly recognizes Christ’s absolute authority and His mission. As stated in 1 John 3:8, Jesus’ primary concern in ministry is to destroy the works of the devil. The demonic realm knows that His very presence signals their ultimate destruction.

Spiritual Reality	The Truth of Christ’s Ministry
The Demonic Fear	Recognition of Christ as the “Holy One of God”.
The Savior’s Response	Absolute command: “Be quiet, and come out of him!”
The Kingdom Outcome	Complete deliverance with zero residual harm to the victim.

The Mandate for Today’s Believers

As followers of Christ, we must realize that we cannot fully experience or show evidence of the presence of God’s kingdom if we fail to directly confront the power of evil. When the modern Church ignores spiritual warfare, it leaves people trapped in slavery to sin and demonic oppression.

Jesus declared in Matthew 12:28 that casting out demons by the Spirit of God is proof that the Kingdom has arrived. These dark powers must submit to His followers—not because of human strength, but because of a deep, uncompromising relationship with the Living God. When we abide in Christ, His authority flows through us to break chains and set captives free.

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father,

We thank You for the absolute authority and power that rests in the name of Jesus Christ. Lord, remove all powers of deception that the enemy attempts to use in our lives. Give us the spiritual discernment to recognize the work of the evil one and the courage to confront darkness directly in our communities.

We pray for those trapped in slavery to sin and spiritual oppression. By the power of Your Holy Spirit, break every chain and release the captives. Help us to walk in an uncompromising relationship with You, so that Your Kingdom may be vividly displayed through our lives. We rest in the truth that the enemy has no power to harm those who belong to You.

In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
